Nicholas Alazakis, director of communications for Waukegan Public Schools, announced the district’s annual Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month celebration will be Thursday, May 8, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Jack Benny Middle School.

The district said the event’s theme is “A Legacy of Leadership and Resilience.” Attendees can view student-created displays and live performances highlighting AANHPI stories, music and dance. The district encouraged preregistration but said it was not required.
