Wasatch Front Regional Council staff told the Transportation Coordinating Committee that WFRC will lead development of a comprehensive regional Safety Action Plan in partnership with local governments, UDOT and UTA.
Wayne Binion, WFRC staff, said the effort is funded through the Safe Streets and Roads for All program and includes a local match provided by the regional council. "WFRC was asked to lead the development of a comprehensive safety action plan for the region," Binion said, and staff invited members to a virtual kickoff meeting scheduled for 10 a.m. next Tuesday, Aug. 22.
Binion said the plan will be developed over several months and will make local governments eligible to apply for implementation funding through the Safe Streets for All program once the plan is complete. The kickoff is intended to review scope, schedule and partner roles and to begin data collection and stakeholder engagement.
The committee record shows staff also reminded members of upcoming nomination windows for UDOT funding programs (Transportation Investment Fund and Transit Transportation Investment Fund), with application periods open to Aug. 31, according to the meeting discussion.
