The Plan Commission approved a building site and operations plan for an accessory 7,296‑square‑foot warehouse for J Miller Electric at 512 South Park Street.
Staff summarized that the building will store materials and be used for prefabrication of conduits and panels, allowing vehicle storage inside the structure. The applicant, Justin Miller, is the third‑generation owner and said moving materials inside will “clean that up to be a lot nicer for the neighbors.”
Bob Harris noted the site abuts light industrial uses to the south and residential properties to the east and described screening measures: staggered arborvitae along Oakland Avenue, a possible cedar fence, and a 20‑foot setback where required by zoning. The design review board recommended adding windows on the north face for daylighting and to break up the long façade; staff recommended approval with the two‑tone color belt (wainscoting) and the additional windows.
Justin Miller confirmed he was comfortable with the added windows. Commissioners moved and seconded a motion to approve with the design review board and staff recommendations; the motion carried by voice vote.
The approval includes the design review board’s suggested windows and two‑tone belting. Staff also noted landscaping and screening requirements to minimize impacts on adjacent residences.
