IRVING, Ky. — The Estill County Board of Education approved out‑of‑state travel May 15 for students attending national conferences for Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA).

The board heard that students qualified to attend national events and that the district has historically supported travel and lodging for students who advance to state and national competitions.

Board member Sharon Whitaker moved to approve the trips and Sheila Samples seconded. The board voted in favor; the chair announced the motion carried.

Jeremy Brock, staff member, praised the students and noted prior support for lodging when students attend state and national conferences. No trip costs or funding sources were read into the public record during the motion; board members said the district “generally” pays rooms for these student activities when budgets allow.

Administration will coordinate trip logistics and bring any specifics about funding or chaperone arrangements back to the board if needed.
