The New Rochelle Municipal Civil Service Commission on Oct. 22 approved minutes from its June 25, 2025 meeting and took several personnel-administration actions, including establishing and extending eligible lists for open-competitive and promotional hiring and scheduling examinations in November.
The commission approved the minutes for the June 25, 2025 meeting by voice vote. It also established eligible lists including a promotion list for manager of refuse collection (list no. 2697) and an electrician open competitive list (no. 2704) for a period of one year until Oct. 22, 2026.
The commission established a new police sergeant eligible list (no. 2696) effective Oct. 27, 2025, to remain in effect for two years until Oct. 27, 2027; commissioners noted the current list expires Oct. 27, 2025. Several other lists were extended for six months because exams or hiring processes may occur prior to expiration: office manager open competitive (no. 2642) and two office manager promotion lists (nos. 2644 and 2643) were extended until May 19, 2026; principal clerk bilingual (no. 2638) was extended until April 30, 2026.
The commission approved extending the program administrator open competitive list (no. 2646) for a full year until Oct. 30, 2026. Commissioners said some hiring and examinations are pending, and extensions were intended to avoid lapse of eligible lists while recruitment proceeds.
The commission noted its November examination schedule: an assistant superintendent of sewers exam is scheduled for Nov. 1 (two candidates expected) and on Nov. 15 the commission will hold transportation assistant (open competitive and promotion) and executive director of IT, infrastructure and support systems examinations; staff estimated 10–15 candidates for the Nov. 15 sessions. The staff said examinations will begin at 8:30 a.m. at City Hall.
The commission set its next meeting for Nov. 19, 2025, at 3:30 p.m. and adjourned at 3:45 p.m.
