The South Washington County Schools Board voted May 22 to terminate the contracts of long‑term substitute teachers, administration said, to ensure regular teachers who hold return rights can resume their positions.

Administration described a long‑term substitute as "one who worked all or part of the school year, replacing a specific teacher who has return rights to their position." Officials said failing to terminate the contracts would result in the district allocating two teachers to affected positions when regular teachers return from leave. Administration recommended approval of the resolution.

A motion to approve the termination of long‑term substitute contracts was made, seconded and approved by roll‑call vote.
