The Pasadena ISD Board of Trustees administered the oath of office to candidates for positions 1, 2, 3, 4 and 7 and then elected its officers during the May regular meeting.

Certificates of election were delivered and sworn before the board. The trustees sworn in were Joe Campos (position 7), Paola Gonzales (position 1), Crystal Davila (position 2), Casey Phelan (position 4) and Nelda Sullivan (position 3). Each completed the written oath and spoke briefly; several introduced family members in the audience.

After the swearing-in ceremony the board nominated and elected officers for the coming term. Trustee Kenny Fernandez was nominated and elected board president; Trustee Casey Phelan was elected vice president; Trustee Marshall Kendrick was elected secretary; and Trustee Nelda Sullivan was elected assistant secretary. Motions and seconds were made from the board floor; votes were taken by voice and recorded as "Aye," and the chair announced the motions carried.

The board conducted the ceremony under the authority of the certificate of election and the written oaths of office; the meeting record notes the involvement of David Hodgins and Joan Jordan in administering the oaths.

These governance steps concluded before the board returned to remaining agenda items later in the evening.
