Board committee members reported to the full Board on June 4 that the capital-project planning process is ramping up and will include environmental review, design studies and stakeholder outreach.

The committee reviewed the environmental‑quality review process required by New York State and discussed timing for early site work and design studies so the district can have accurate cost estimates before pricing. Committee members also reviewed a draft stakeholder‑survey questionnaire intended to solicit community priorities for a capital project.

Committee members emphasized the value of broad stakeholder input and said they will increase communications this summer and into the fall as design work and community engagement continue. The committee’s summary to the board urged completion of site work where possible prior to pricing to limit unknowns in cost estimates that will inform bond planning.

No formal board action on the capital project was taken at this meeting; committee materials and outreach plans are preparatory steps in a multi‑stage process that will include further board consideration and public input.
