The Pelham City Board of Education approved staffing and pay measures to support summer programs and special-education services for the 2025-26 school year.
Dr. Ledbetter presented a recommendation to approve summer program workers; board members approved the hires by voice vote. The board also approved two teachers receiving additional summer workdays — nine extra days for one teacher and 10 extra days for the other — to complete caseload work and Individualized Education Program (IEP) development. Dr. Ledbetter said the additional days are a “limited extension of time” needed for summer special-education tasks.
The board approved a supplemental pay plan for special education: $5,000 supplements for all special-education teachers and $5,000 per school for IEP specialists. Dr. Ledbetter said the district started IEP-specialist supplements last year and that making all special-education teachers eligible at $5,000 matches neighboring systems and is intended to retain staff.
Board members and district staff discussed budget coverage. Lauren, the district’s chief school financial officer, said some summer staffing had not been included in the original budget and that the district will adjust the budget amendment categories to reflect the summer work without affecting overall budget totals.
All motions passed by voice vote. The transcript does not record individual board member votes or dollar totals beyond the $5,000 supplement amounts; further payroll and category-level budget details were not specified on the record.
