Ms. Black told commissioners, “We solicited bids for a new mini excavator for Public Works. This is a smaller excavator that will allow Public Works to clean easements that are too small to reach with the larger, in the range of excavators. This is a mid size 1.” She said the county received one bid meeting specifications from Yancey Brothers for $171,453. A motion to award the bid to Yancey Brothers was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote with no opposition recorded in the transcript.

The meeting did not record additional bid details such as delivery date, warranty terms or funding source; staff provided photos and specifications to commissioners on a previous morning session, which one commissioner thanked them for during the discussion.
