Allegany County approved a 2025 budget modification to allocate an additional $245,998 in CHIPS-related funds apportioned to the county for consolidated highway, PAVE New York, extreme winter recovery and pothole programs.

Department of Public Works staff said the county’s CHIPS allocation exceeded prior estimates and requested the board appropriate the additional funds in the 2025 budget. The request specified addition of $245,998 and noted intended uses consistent with the county’s maintenance and paving program of work.

The board moved and approved the resolution by voice vote. No change to the county tax levy or borrowings was recorded in the discussion; staff indicated the funds were additional apportionments from the state and should be appropriated consistent with the adopted maintenance-of-effort plan.
