Parks and Recreation Director Stephanie Letton told the commission the city is seeking permission to dispose of 750 auditorium chairs stored in a warehouse and donated them to the charter schools occupying the 1919 Building during its ongoing construction.

Letton said the chairs were purchased via a 2007 grant for the building and have been in storage for roughly 18–20 years. The chairs are being kept boxed until delivered to the charter schools, and Letton recommended donation so the chairs can be used for their original purpose.

Commissioners responded positively to the request and staff said they will not open the boxes before delivery to the charter schools to inspect condition except as necessary for transport.
