The Limestone County Commission on July 16 approved a $75,000 grant from the Alabama Historical Commission for the Limestone County Department of History and Archives.

The award requires no county match, county leaders said during the meeting. Commissioner Townsend moved to approve the grant; Commissioner Samet seconded the motion and the commission voted unanimously to accept the funds.

The grant was listed on the meeting agenda as a funding award to the county archives. No additional conditions or matching requirements were announced at the meeting.

The approval was routine and came amid a slate of consent-agenda items the commission handled early in the meeting.
