Walworth County approves capital project to add Axon software modules for sheriff’s office

The Walworth County Board of Supervisors on June 10 established a 2025 capital improvement project to fund additional Axon software modules for the Sheriff’s Office.

The resolution to create the budget and project was recommended by the Executive, Public Works and Finance committees and required a two-thirds vote; the board approved it by unanimous consent after Supervisor Sheila Reif moved for unanimous consent and Supervisor Veil Stanek seconded. "I move for a unanimous consent on that resolution," Reif said; the chair called the vote and the motion carried.

Why it matters: the resolution creates a capital project for Sheriff’s Office software modules from Axon, a vendor that supplies body cameras and associated software. Committee recommendations listed on the agenda show cross-committee support; the board did not discuss purchase price or funding details during the floor motion.

The board did not solicit further comment at the meeting; the resolution will be implemented per Finance Committee direction and reported through normal capital project accounting procedures.
