Mayor Robin R. Christianson delivered an extended report to the Dover City Council on priorities and progress, outlining infrastructure investments, partnership plans and community engagement initiatives.
The mayor described work begun in 2020 to build a long-term "road map" and credited council members and staff for securing additional resources, including a referenced $10,000,000 contribution to infrastructure noted in the meeting record. He highlighted downtown and riverfront improvements, partnerships with state and county officials and planned workforce training with organizations such as Kent County Tech and Delaware institutions to prepare local residents for new jobs tied to a joint-use agreement involving the nearby Air Force base. "We have partnerships with their education organizations like Kent Polytech, Deltek, and others to make sure that our local people get trained for the jobs that will be arriving," the mayor said.
Christenson said the city expects a number of projects to unfold over the next two to five years and promoted new community engagement focus groups to solicit input outside of formal committee structures. He also said the city will publish rules for a new economic development/community development fund to reinvest proceeds from land sales into local projects.
Earlier in the meeting the council presented a certificate of recognition to Denise Y. Dudley as Miss Delmarva 2025. The certificate text presented by the mayor identified Denise Y. Dudley and was signed by "Robin R. Christianson, mayor, 01/13/2025." Dudley spoke briefly and thanked the council.
The mayor closed by emphasizing public safety, quality-of-life investments, and plans to pursue grants and partnerships without raising taxes. No formal council action was associated with the report: it was delivered as an informational presentation.
