County engineering staff opened bids on June 24 for a full roof replacement at the joint highway facility shared with the City of Moorhead and MnDOT.

Joel, the county project lead, read five conforming bids and confirmed each included the required 5% bid bond, contractor's license and liability insurance. The bids announced were: Tecta America Dakotas (Fargo) $438,867; Northstar Contracting (Fargo) $475,270; Herzog (Detroit Lakes) $498,000; A & R Roofing Co., Inc. (West Fargo) $523,320; and MJ Dawson Co. (West Fargo) $568,943.

County staff said the project estimate range was roughly $450,000 to $525,000 and noted the funding partners: the City of Moorhead (22%), MnDOT (33%) and Clay County (45% of the county/city split), which yields an estimated Clay County share of about $197,490 based on the low bid. Staff said they will review the bids, prepare the abstract and return a recommendation to the board next week.

No contract award was made at the June 24 meeting; staff will forward bid documents to the City of Moorhead and MnDOT and present a formal recommendation for award at a subsequent meeting.
