The Town of Babylon Zoning Board of Appeals reserved decision on an application for an in-ground pool, paver patio and outdoor kitchen at a North Babylon property after questions about the ownership status of two adjacent lots.
Christina Bridal of Moreno Expediting presented the permit application for Paul and Anna Reiners, describing a plan for an in-ground pool, paver patio and an outdoor kitchen consisting of a barbecue, pizza oven and a keg tap. Bridal said all structures would maintain code setbacks and that the owners had planted evergreens to screen the improvements from neighbors.
Board members said a portion of the proposed patio and pavers spans a second, adjacent lot the applicants also own. Because the second parcel’s status affects lot-coverage calculations, the board said it could not move forward until the applicants confirmed whether the lots would be merged or otherwise clarified in writing. The applicant requested not to delay but agreed to the board’s condition to contact the property owners and provide documentation. The board kept the record open and reserved decision while staff follows up on whether a legal lot merger or other documentation will be provided.
Neighbor Jacqueline White spoke in support of the applicants. The board said it will contact the zoning office and tax assessor and expected to take up the item at the next meeting if the supplemental documentation is received.
