The Big Walnut Local Schools Board of Education approved awarding a contract to Roof Links LLC for a full reroof of the Baughman Building at its June 26 meeting.

During discussion board members asked whether the project was a repair or a full replacement; a district official confirmed, ‘‘I am confirming it is a replacement, not a repair.’’ The district also said the estimate is ‘‘substantially less’’ than prior estimates. One board member referenced prior estimates of about $2,300,000 and $1,900,000 over the last five years and described the current figure as the lowest estimate during that span.

The board voted to award the contract after the motion and second. No additional financing detail or contractor start date was provided in the meeting record; district staff indicated the award represents significant savings compared with prior projections.
