Jessica Gao was elected chair of the Volusia Forever advisory committee during the June 9 meeting of the Volusia County committee. The committee then nominated and approved Suzanne Schreiber as vice chair.

The committee opened nominations for chair after the approval of April 4 minutes. Gerald Feazer nominated Jessica Gao; John Macaluso seconded the nomination. After a roll call procedure to confirm votes, the committee selected Gao. Following that, committee members nominated Schreiber for vice chair; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.

Sarah Jonas, assistant county attorney, presided over the nominations procedure while the committee organized the roll call. After the elections, Gao assumed leadership of the meeting and the agenda moved to new business, including eligibility reviews for multiple properties.

The committee did not attach any policy changes to the leadership votes; the selections were procedural and will remain in effect for the coming year.
