OCEAN SHORES, Wash. — The Ocean Shores Civil Service Commission on June 25 voted to extend the captain and lieutenant promotion eligibility lists that were originally certified Dec. 2, 2022, by three years from their certification date.

The commission recessed into an executive session to "evaluate the qualifications of an applicant for public employment," saying publicly that there "will be commission action." Commissioners returned to open session after about 10–15 minutes and subsequently moved to approve the extensions. Commission business was conducted at the Ocean Shores Fire Department during a special meeting.

Commissioner McGregor called for motions to extend both promotion lists. Both motions were approved by voice vote; no opposing votes are recorded in the meeting transcript. The motions extend the period that the December 2, 2022 promotion eligibility lists remain certified for promotion consideration by Ocean Shores departments.

The executive session subject and any deliberations held there are confidential and were not discussed on the public record. The meeting record does not list individual personnel actions or specify if any promotions were the immediate consequence of the extension votes.

The commission adjourned after approving the extensions.
