The Ball Chatham Unit 5 Board of Education opened a public hearing, took no public comments and approved the district's amended fiscal year 2024-25 budget at its board meeting.

The board read a resolution saying the tentative amended budget had been prepared by district administration in accordance with Section 17-1 of the School Code and made available for public inspection starting May 23, 2025. The resolution also stated that the public inspection copy is available at the district administrative office at 1475 East Plummer Boulevard, Chatham, Illinois.

Board members moved to open the public hearing; because no members of the public spoke the board moved to close the hearing and then voted to approve the amended FY25 budget. The vote recorded in the meeting transcript shows board members voting yes: Jeffreys; Colvin/Colovic; Assemeyer; Coburn; and Murphy. The motion passed with all recorded votes in favor and no recorded dissent.

The board did not announce line-item amounts, changes to specific funds, or implementation timelines during the public hearing portion of the meeting. The resolution read during the meeting said the tentative amended budget had been available for public inspection beginning May 23, 2025 and specified the date and location for public inspection and the hearing notice.
