At its July 1 meeting the Rules, Confirmations & Public Elections Committee confirmed Alan Sloan to the Human Relations Commission for a term expiring April 18, 2026, by a 6-0 recorded committee vote. Later in the meeting the committee approved a consolidated slate of six additional nominations by a 7-0 vote.

Alan Sloan told the committee he had recently been confirmed to the Transportation Licensing Commission but resigned because of a qualification issue; he said he was glad for the current nomination. “I’m currently the chairman and co-director of a group called NICS Nashville, which focuses on education community building in the non-monogamy community,” Sloan told the committee. He described his interest in the Human Relations Commission as rooted in equity and access: “If you just put yourself in the position of the person who’s having this issue, it’s very easy to see… I would just hope to promote that and to help other people kind of see where even if something’s not happening to you, it doesn’t mean it’s not happening.”

The consolidated vote approved the following nominees: Dakota Gollman (Human Relations Commission, term exp. 04/18/2029), Sarah Martin (Human Relations Commission, term exp. 04/18/2027), Carmen Reese Foster (Human Relations Commission, term exp. 04/18/2027), Claudia Weber (Human Relations Commission, term exp. 04/18/2027), Alicia Wynn (Human Relations Commission reappointment, term exp. 04/18/2028), and Dr. D’Angelo Taylor (Social Services Commission appointment, term exp. 04/03/2030). The committee recorded the consolidated approval as 7-0 in favor.

Committee members had no additional questions after Sloan’s interview and voted to move the confirmations forward. The committee record does not show individual roll-call votes by name for the confirmations.
