South Charleston City Council on Monday moved an ordinance amending a provision of the city code that governs the manufacturing business tax credit to a second reading.

Marjorie read the title: “An ordinance to amend section 7 37.19 0.1 of article 7 37 of the city code, the city of South Charleston concerning the new manufacturing business tax credit.” After a motion to move the ordinance to second reading, a councilmember said “So moved,” and the motion was seconded by Councilwoman Spurlock. The council voted in favor and the motion passed.

Council members referenced prior finance committee discussion before taking the vote. The council did not discuss substantive language changes on the council floor during the excerpted discussion; the item was advanced to a second reading for further consideration.
