The South El Monte City Council on June 17 confirmed appointments to the city’s newly established Homeless Commission.

Staff told the council the commission — created by ordinance to advise on homelessness policy and programs — is a five-member body. Council members named applicants from the pool of seven people who applied and the council moved to confirm the appointments. The motion to approve the appointments carried unanimously.

Staff later asked the council to return appointment details to the administrative record and to provide rosters to the commission. The council approved the item by voice vote.

Ending: Staff will schedule the Homeless Commission’s first organizational meeting and provide members with background materials and the enabling ordinance.
