At the July 2025 meeting, the Oviedo City Council accepted the Seminole Cultural Arts Council's nomination of Dr. Deborah Bauer to serve as an ex officio member of the city's Public Arts Board.
Mr. Cobb, a city staff member, told the council that the board's enabling ordinance provides for an ex officio seat for a Seminole County Cultural Arts Council representative and that the council had nominated Dr. Deborah Bauer as that representative. "The council has nominated Doctor. Deborah Bauer to, be their representative," Mr. Cobb said.
Because the item was listed as a discussion item rather than a formal vote, council members indicated consensus. "We would be happy to have you on board, and it sounds like we have full consensus here," Deputy Mayor Tucart said. The council did not record a roll-call vote on the appointment during the meeting.
The appointment is to the Public Arts Board as an ex officio member representing the Seminole County Cultural Arts Council; council members said they welcomed Dr. Bauer and the council will follow the board's usual procedures for onboarding its members.
No formal legal or budgetary action was taken at the meeting to allocate funds to the Public Arts Board in connection with the appointment.
