The Wakefield School Committee approved memoranda of agreement covering multiple bargaining units that apply from fiscal year 2026 through fiscal year 2028, voting unanimously on each item at its July 8 meeting.

The approvals formalize contracts the district and bargaining units settled this spring. The agreements approved were for cafeteria workers (AFSCME), custodial staff (AFSCME), clerical workers (AFSCME), traffic supervisors, and the Wakefield Administrators Association. Committee members moved and seconded each approval, and the committee recorded unanimous votes, 6–0, on each MOA. There was no substantive discussion recorded for any of the motions.

Earlier in the meeting the committee also approved the minutes of the June 24, 2025 meeting. The chair noted there were no budget items on the July 8 agenda.

Actions recorded on the record were procedural approvals: motions to approve each presented MOA followed by voice votes. The meeting transcript shows repeated motion language such as, “Move that the school committee approve the MOA for the Cafeteria Workers' contract fiscal year 2026 to fiscal year 2028 as presented,” with similar phrasing used for the other units. Each motion was seconded and passed by unanimous vote.

The approvals complete contract ratification steps described by the administration as settlements reached this spring. The committee did not request additional public discussion or seek to amend the memoranda during the meeting.

The School Committee’s next regular meeting is scheduled for Aug. 12 at 7:00 p.m.
