Coos County commissioners approved county orders granting a 3.25% rate increase for local waste haulers, citing the annual West B/C Consumer Price Index.

A presenter told the board, "We received a request to increase the rates in line with annual West BC CPI, for a total increase of 3.25%." For Waste Connections, staff said the increase would amount to approximately $0.97 per month for a 35‑gallon home service cart; for Babe's Garbage Service the same 3.25% increase would be about $1.03 per month for a 35‑gallon cart.

The board moved and seconded orders to grant the rate adjustments and approved both motions by voice vote. Commissioners commented that the gradual, consistent increases reduce bill shock and praised hauler customer service during discussion.
