A posted special meeting in Delaware County was canceled after Baker Tilly, the accounting firm scheduled to brief county officials on the fiscal effects of Senate Bill 1, did not attend, a meeting official said.
The meeting official said the session had been scheduled to start at 11 a.m. and that the county had arranged for Baker Tilly to explain how Senate Bill 1 affects Delaware County’s finances. “There’s been some wires crossed somewhere, with the officials at Baker Tilly,” the official said. “They're not gonna be here, so, we're gonna have to cancel the meeting and try at some point to, get the meeting rescheduled.”
The briefing mattered because it was intended to outline how Senate Bill 1 could affect county finances; the official said the county will try to reschedule the presentation and post the meeting information on the county website. “We apologize for the inconvenience,” the official added.
County staff announced the cancellation at the start of the posted special meeting and described the absence as a scheduling or communications error with the presenter. The official told attendees the county had just spoken with Baker Tilly by phone and that a future date would be sought; the official did not announce any formal vote or other board action related to the cancellation.
The county made no further substantive remarks about Senate Bill 1 during the short announcement, and no new analysis or financial figures were presented at the canceled session. The county said it will post information about the rescheduled meeting and any related materials on its website.
