City staff proposed a full-time community engagement coordinator to support events, volunteer programs and outreach; the new position would work with part-time events planner Kim Woking and is budgeted in pay band J.
City staff proposed a new community engagement coordinator to manage the city’s growing events calendar and outreach efforts, staff said during the Oct. 11 Erlanger City Council Caucus.
Mark, a city staff member, told the caucus the coordinator would "plan and manage recurring programs, our volunteer initiatives, educational workshops, neighborhood focused events" and act as a point of contact for businesses, schools and neighborhood associations. The coordinator would work alongside the city’s part-time events planner, Kim Woking, and take primary responsibility for event execution and outreach.
Mark said the position intends to "level up" community events and sustain relationships with residents and local businesses; he referenced a memo from Hoffman that provided additional job-description detail. The position was included in the wage-scale packet as a new slot placed in pay band J.
No formal hiring decision was made during the caucus; staff presented the job description and said the role would be incorporated into the FY26 budget process for council action. Funding sources for the new full-time position were discussed as part of the larger personnel and operating budget discussions rather than as a separate line-item vote.
If approved through the FY26 budget process, staff said the coordinator would lead regular outreach programs, volunteer initiatives and neighborhood-focused events, working with the events planner to deliver larger events consistently and to increase business and resident engagement.
