The Board of Public Works and Safety on Wednesday approved a NIPSCO service agreement to bring electrical service to parts of Saruman Wood park, city staff said.

Jenny Burgess told the board the agreement would allow NIPSCO to install power to the south end of the park and enable additional hookups at the north end; she said city staff reviewed the agreement and determined that "the bonuses that $0 for the city." Legal counsel confirmed the standard utility agreement was the government form and recommended approval.

The board voted unanimously to approve the agreement; staff said there would be no direct charge to the city for the work.

City staff will proceed with paperwork to establish the new account and coordinate NIPSCO's work schedule with park operations.
