Jacob Griffin (DLC 503310) was conditionally granted parole on July 15 at a hearing at the David Wade Correctional Center after board members said he had completed programming and showed institutional improvement.

Griffin, a first-felony offender serving a 23-year sentence for a forcible sexual offense, told the board he committed the crime as a youth and described participation in institutional risk-management and offender-treatment programming during his incarceration. His mother and other family members spoke in favor of release, saying they needed his help and would provide support. A victim speaker said she forgave Griffin but asked the board for careful oversight.

Prison staff said Griffin had transferred to David Wade in March and had not presented disciplinary problems there; his last write-up was on July 9 and staff described good work performance and low risk scores at Wade. Board members confirmed Griffin completed prerelease programming and had submitted an interstate compact request to transfer supervision to Texas (status: not yet accepted). The board voted to grant parole contingent on an approved residence plan and compliance with the sex-offender related contract; a special condition was added that Griffin not be around juveniles.

Board members also reminded Griffin of registration requirements arising from his offense classification; one member emphasized that lifetime registration obligations applied given a “tier 3” classification noted in the record. The board’s grant is conditional on final approval of the residence plan and compliance with all supervision and treatment conditions.
