The board approved the purchase of 30 copies of Essentials of Business Communication, 12th edition, for the new dual‑credit communications course at Richland County High School, at an estimated cost of $8,000. Mrs. Rogers said the textbook order reflects current registration: guidance reported 23 to 24 students already enrolled and the district chose to order 30 books to ensure adequate supply.

Rogers said the course will be taught as dual credit in partnership with Olney Central College and that the newly hired dual‑credit instructor, Mrs. Ridgeley, worked with guidance and college partners on course selection. The board approved the purchase by roll call vote with no amendment.

District staff said purchasing 30 textbooks will cover current enrollment and anticipated late registrations.
