The Webster County Board of Supervisors accepted quotes and approved a $2,000 abstract and title search provided by Webster County Abstract to support the county's Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) site certification work tied to the "Iowa Crossroads of Global Innovation" effort.

Webster County Attorney Darren Driscoll told the board the county had received two quotes: Webster County Abstract at $2,000 and Abstract Associates of Iowa at $7,500. "Due to the, kinda gross difference between the two numbers, we did double check just to make sure that they were comparing apples to apples," Driscoll said. He said staff confirmed the firms were bidding the same scope of work but could not fully explain the price discrepancy; both firms were judged competent to do the work.

After discussion, the board accepted Webster County Abstract's quote and authorized staff to proceed with the $2,000 contract for the IEDA site-certification effort.

The item was approved by voice vote.
