Commission orders repair or removal of garage at 125 South Twelfth after owner nonresponse

The Unsafe Building Commission on Tuesday affirmed a repair-or-remove enforcement order for the garage at 125 South Twelfth Street after staff reported repeated nonresponse from the listed owner. Staff said notices and fines dating back to October 2023 were sent addressing the garage’s severe disrepair, and that debris had been cleared at times but new accumulation continued. Staff asked the commission to adopt the enforcement authority’s findings and make the order a continuous enforcement order. Commissioners moved and seconded a motion to adopt the enforcement authority’s statements as the commission’s findings and to affirm the submitted order; the motion carried. Staff noted the house on the lot has other issues that will be addressed later, and that the enforcement action at this meeting concerned the garage. No owner or other speaker appeared at the meeting to contest the order.
