Board waives $667.35 in late fees for Aspen Meadows water account

The Board of Public Works and Safety on July 24 granted billing relief of $667.35 to Aspen Meadows Apartments after staff said the account has a record of timely payments and a check mailed June 3 was received late by the utility. Heather Najar, manager of Aspen Meadows Apartments, said the property always pays monthly bills on time and produced a postmarked check dated June 3; utility staff confirmed the payment was not received until June 8 and late fees were applied. Kelly from the utility billing office said her authorization limit is $500 and amounts above that require board approval. A board member moved to approve relief from the $667.35 in late fees; the motion passed unanimously. The board directed staff to apply the relief and noted the property’s otherwise good payment history.
