Katy ISD facilities staff presented a contract request for campus infrastructure work at West Memorial Elementary during the July 21 work-study meeting.
Lisa Casman, Executive Director of Facilities Planning and Construction, told trustees that the original 2021 bond project for West Memorial included a building addition and cafeteria/kitchen renovation. “As construction progressed, it was determined that additional parking and chiller placement were also necessary,” Casman said. She said the proposal would allocate 19 parking spaces to better accommodate staff and visitors and that the district planned to replace a chiller repurposed from another campus after staff determined the reused unit was not performing efficiently and would cost more to repair than to replace.
Board members asked no substantive follow-up questions at the work study. The administration will present a contract approval item for the project at the upcoming regular meeting.
