Chillicothe City Council on July 14 approved an ordinance to raise water rates by 2% by amending Chapter 915.08 of the city codified ordinances. The measure passed on its third reading during the council's regular meeting at 26 South Paint Street.

The Utilities Committee identified the ordinance as item number three on the agenda. During the council roll call, Councilmember Bennett voted no and Councilmember DeMint voted no; the remaining members voted yes, giving the ordinance a 7–2 margin.

Councilmember McKeever reported that Utilities Committee had the item on the agenda for council consideration. No public speakers addressed the rate increase at the July 14 meeting, and the council did not record additional amendments or an implementation schedule during the meeting.

The council did not record estimated revenue generated by the 2% increase during the session. The ordinance amends the codified city code provision cited by the Utilities Committee; the exact language of the amendment was not read into the public record in full during the meeting.

Utilities Committee Chair McKeever presented the committee report. Following the roll call, Council President Shoemaker declared the ordinance adopted.
