The Green Local School District Board of Education approved agreements with outside service providers to meet the special-education needs of students whose individualized education program (IEP) teams determined placements outside district schools were appropriate.
The board approved an agreement with the Educational Service Center of Northeast Ohio or Capstone Academy for one student for the 2025–26 school year, not to exceed $50,000 and including extended school-year services estimated at $2,000. The board separately approved agreements naming Summit Educational Service Center, Kids Link School (Belfair/Monarch school referenced), and Total Education Solutions for one student each, effective Aug. 1, 2025. Each motion passed on a 4-0 voice vote.
Board members asked for clarification that these placements result from the IEP process, and staff confirmed that out-of-district placement occurs when a student's needs exceed services the district can provide and that parents are involved in placement decisions. The superintendent and treasurer recommended approval of the contracts.
The board did not discuss per-student contract details beyond the one line item that included a not-to-exceed amount and the extended-school-year figure for the Capstone placement.
