The Pierce County Council and Executive recognized Sally Medansky on July 22 for 33 years of service to Pierce County Juvenile Court with a formal proclamation at the council meeting.
Council member Ayala read the proclamation, which lists Medansky’s roles over her career — juvenile probation counselor, JRA diagnostic coordinator and Family and Juvenile Court Improvement Program Coordinator — and credits her with contributions to early childhood court, Indian Child Welfare court, early parentage projects and statewide work groups implementing House Bill 1227.
Medansky accepted the recognition and said, "It's been a fun, fabulous 33 years." Colleagues including Papi Villa and council members offered thanks and shared brief anecdotes about her leadership and influence on county programs. Council members urged her to enjoy retirement; a photo and brief reception were planned following the meeting.
The proclamation frames Medansky’s work as both locally transformative and influential in state-level child-welfare implementation; no legislative action was taken during the meeting on this item.
