Park County commissioners on June 18 approved a professional services agreement to contract with Gary Peterson as a second hearing officer for the County Board of Equalization.

Assistant County Manager Cindy Garst and staff explained the county has used contracted hearing officers in prior years and the second contract provides scheduling options so the county does not need to run concurrent hearings. County staff said assessor appeals were down in 2025 compared with earlier cycles, and the additional contract is intended to provide flexibility if needed.

A commissioner moved to approve the professional services agreement for Gary Peterson; the motion was seconded and carried 3 to 0.

The agreement adds Mr. Peterson to the roster of contract hearing officers available to the county; staff will call on the contracted officers as appeals scheduling requires.
