Following presentations, county staff were directed to request written documentation from organizers for Sister Cities (approximately $6,000 per year) and to include a $10,000 request from the Weisbrod Aircraft Museum in the 2026 budget discussion; no appropriation was made at the July 29 work session.
County staff asked the Board of County Commissioners during the July 29 work session to seek formal requests and invoices from local groups that had previously asked for financial support. County Manager Spina Genesio said Sister Cities has historically run about $6,000 per year and that the BOCC appeared to have consensus to support the program, but staff needed a formal invoice or written request to process funding.
“We need an invoice or some sort of written request as far as what that financial support looks like,” Genesio said. He told commissioners BOCC staff should reach out to Mr. Saladino to confirm amounts and deadlines so the county has documentation on file.
Regarding the Weisbrod Aircraft Museum, Genesio said the museum’s $10,000 request would be entered into the county’s 2026 budget conversation unless the board decided to fund it sooner. Commissioners asked where the funding would come from; staff suggested the general fund or the ATOE (Automobile, Tourism and Events) bucket as possibilities but said the final funding source would be determined during the budget process.
Staff also advised adding the museum request to the current-year “yellow sheets” (an internal tracking list) so it appears alongside other pending funding requests. No formal funding decisions were made at the July 29 work session; staff will reach out to request documentation and return the items for budget consideration.
