A county department staff member advised residents that mosquito pools in the county will be tested weekly beginning June 1 and that it is common for a pool to test positive during the season.
The staff member said "most people are not gonna get sick from it. You can have flu like symptoms, worst case," but advised residents to take precautions such as using mosquito repellent and eliminating standing water. The county operates free mosquito treatment at parks and can treat standing water; staff described treating a leaky area in Princeton as an example.
No new county policy was adopted; the comments were presented as a public-health advisory to reduce mosquito breeding sites and lower illness risk.
