Select Board approved appointment of Lynn Trapanese as tax collector/treasurer and heard a fiscal-year-end revenue/expense summary; staff reported hires for bookkeeper and town clerk and indicated final financial rollovers and reserve accounting remain to be completed.
The Select Board approved the appointment of Lynn Trapanese as Town of Wayne tax collector/treasurer on July 15; the motion passed unanimously. Shannon (Town Manager) told the board Trapanese began work Monday and has already started training on tax-collector duties.
Shannon also reported hires and training plans for additional office staff: Delaney Russell will begin as town clerk next week and Tegan Audette (bookkeeper) started recent training and will begin handling accounts payable and payroll processes. Shannon said the new staff will attend Maine Municipal Association trainings and begin work on payroll and tax-lien processes this month.
On finances, Shannon presented a draft FY24-25 revenue/expense summary (as of June 30). She said revenues were at about 111% of budgeted figures and the town closed the 2024-25 accounts on July 1; initial reserves and rollovers remain under review. Shannon noted an overrun of approximately $3,800 in general assistance (social services) that included an unexpected PFAS testing cost and said road maintenance budget had approximately $114,950 unspent but that some of those funds were reserved for tree removal and road preparation. The board asked staff to provide updated, printed financial summaries at the next meeting after finalizing year-end entries.
