The county commission voted July 22 to appoint Mary Scott to the York County Visitors Bureau board to fill an unexpired term. Alex South, representing the visitors bureau, told commissioners Scott has experience in travel and museum promotion and that the bureau board supported the appointment unanimously.
South also provided a brief operations update: the bureau is transitioning its website from Weebly to WordPress to improve content discoverability (including for generative AI indexing), is installing new billboards under a contract signed in May, and is running social-media ad campaigns that, South said, are averaging about $0.08 per click. The bureau said it is continuing to monitor performance and will report outcomes to the board.
The commission approved Scott’s appointment by roll call; South and commissioners briefly discussed the remaining term length and indicated Scott would likely fill the remainder of the prior board member’s term, ending in 2026.
No other formal action was required July 22 beyond approving the appointment and acknowledging the visitors bureau’s operational update.
