Nueces County officials on Aug. 6 received the countys calculated no-new-revenue (NNR) and voter-approval (VAR) tax rates for tax year 2025 and were informed that previously posted worksheets were incorrect and would be corrected.
A representative from the county auditor's office presented the following rates from the truth-in-taxation worksheets: the combined county NNR rate (maintenance and operations plus interest and sinking) was 0.266136 per $100 of assessed value and the voter-approval rate was 0.286449 per $100 (this included an unused increment of 0.012888 per $100). For the Nueces County Farm-to-Market rate the NNR was 0.003203 per $100 and the VAR was 0.00334 per $100. For the Nueces County Hospital District the NNR was 0.089495 per $100 and the VAR 0.09734 per $100.
Judge Scott said the hard-copy corrections would be posted after the hearing and asked staff to ensure the public-facing materials match the auditors verified worksheets. The court did not vote on any tax rates at the meeting; this agenda item was a statutory receipt of rate calculations and the court noted that three supplemental appraisal packets had been filed with the appraisal district since preliminary numbers were distributed.
