Butler County commissioners approved a $29,200 purchase from Oldcastle Infrastructure for pipe and end sections needed to reopen Northwest 30th, Public Works Director Curtis Major said on July 8.
Major said the county had sought prebuilt end sections from its customary suppliers but was unable to wait for the longer delivery times; Oldcastle had the required pipe and end sections available and could deliver as soon as the following Monday. Major explained the sections are heavy (about 15,000 pounds each for the specified pieces) and the county scheduled a crane for Monday to set the structures so the road could be surfaced and reopened by the following Thursday, weather permitting.
Commissioner Herzet moved to approve the pipe purchase from Oldcastle Infrastructure in the amount of $29,200; Commissioner Jackson seconded. The board voted 5-0 to approve the purchase.
Ending: Public Works expects to receive and set the pipe sections later that week and to reopen the road within days after installation.
