Greg Nisley, 5188 County Road 4400, told the Board of County Commissioners at its Aug. 4 meeting that he and his family want to purchase new benches to replace seating outside the courthouse property-tax and auto-tag hallway. “My family would like to purchase, with this commission's approval, new benches to be placed in the courthouse outside of the property tax and auto tag hallway,” Nisley said.
Nisley said there are currently three benches providing roughly 34 feet of seating and that his family wants the new benches to match those outside City Hall near the police office. He said the donation is intended as an expression of thanks for the county’s support of his family’s longtime local business.
Commissioners did not take a formal vote on accepting donated benches during the meeting, but they told Nisley to coordinate the plans with county maintenance. The commission asked that Nisley speak with Jeff Phelps, identified at the meeting as the county’s maintenance supervisor, to confirm there are no conflicting plans and to coordinate installation.
Nisley identified family members in his remarks, including his late father and his mother, and said the donation would honor the family’s multigenerational connection to the county. He gave his home address as part of his introduction.
Next steps: commissioners directed staff to coordinate with Nisley and Jeff Phelps on specifications and timing; no formal acceptance motion or recorded roll-call vote was taken during the meeting.
