The Eagle Pass City Council ratified a consultant contract under which certified Emergency Medical Services instructors from the Eagle Pass Fire Department will provide EMT instruction, skills testing and CPR certification for Eagle Pass Independent School District (EPISD) students at a designated campus during the next school year.
City staff said all consumable supplies and textbooks will be provided by EPISD. The contract sets a flat fee of $14,007.25, which the district will reimburse to the city to cover instructor salaries and overtime costs for those teaching at the school.
Fire Department staff said the city has entered into similar agreements in past years. The council approved the contract on a motion by Councilman Garcia, seconded by Councilwoman Ramon, and the clerk recorded the vote as unanimous.
Staff said the $14,007.25 payment will be reimbursed by EPISD and is intended to cover instructor compensation and related overtime for course delivery during the school year.
