Denham Springs — The Denham Springs City Council on Aug. 12 approved a set of contract actions for the Brickneck (Bridal Neck) Well Project, including a contract amendment that reduces costs, an inspection agreement and a payment to the contractor.
City staff and engineer Chad Bockas described Item 11 as a change order No. 3 that reduces the contract by $109,250 by removing an additional test well and a sampling item, and extends the project’s estimated substantial completion from May 16, 2025, to June 11, 2025 to accommodate scheduling for final acceptance. Council approved the change order after staff said the removed items were not required.
On closely related Item 9, the council also authorized the mayor to enter an agreement with L King LLC Inc. to conduct a deferred substantial-completion inspection and any required corrective work. Staff said the inspection is part of the contract’s final acceptance process and that the project was funded by a water-sector grant.
Finally, the council approved payment application No. 12 to L King LLC Inc. in the amount of $24,581.25 for work on the Brickneck Well. Votes on the measures were recorded in roll calls and all measures passed by majority vote.
Councilmembers signaled that if inspectors find deficiencies the contractor must correct them under the terms of the contract. The items are administrative steps to formalize final acceptance and payment under the project’s existing grant funding.
