Flagler County proclaims Pretrial Services Week, Purple Heart Day and Month

The Flagler County Board of County Commissioners adopted two proclamations at its July 14 meeting: a proclamation recognizing the week in July 2025 as pretrial probation and parole supervision week, and a proclamation declaring August 7, 2025, as Purple Heart Day and August 2025 as Purple Heart Month in Flagler County.

Commissioner Pennington read the pretrial proclamation, noting Flagler County Pretrial Services was established in 2014 and that the appearance rate for individuals under pretrial supervision in 2024 was listed in the proclamation as 99 percent. The board moved, seconded and approved the proclamation by voice vote.

Commissioner Hansen read the Purple Heart proclamation on behalf of the county’s veteran services office. Veteran Services Officer David Lyden and Purple Heart community representatives, including Charlie Hanger and Major Dennis Ryan (ret.), attended; Ryan spoke briefly, thanking the board and describing his service. The board approved the Purple Heart proclamation by voice vote.

Both proclamations were presented as ceremonial items; no regulatory action or budgetary appropriation resulted from the votes.
